The Book Thief

The Book Thief is a 2013 American-German war drama film based on the novel of the same name by Markus Zusak, directed by Brian Percival and written by Michael Petroni, with an Oscar-nominated musical score composed by John Williams. The film stars Emily Watson, Geoffrey Rush, Sophie Nélisse, Ben Schnetzer, Nico Liersch, and Joachim Paul Assböck. While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. In the basement of her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents. The budget to make this film was $19 million and its box-office was $67,871,868.

The Book thief is one of my all-time favorite films. The ending always makes me cry. It isn't as good as the book but it’s still lovely. I praise Markus Zusak for creating this wonderful book because it led to this great film.
